Find the project. Read the evidence.

A guide to exploring DC Spotter's public research snapshot and understanding what the records show.

Search and filter projects

  1. Open the project explorer and search by project, developer or region.
  2. Narrow the results with the Country, Developer, Stage and Grid filters. A minimum MW filter can help find records with a published capacity value; it will exclude records without a usable figure.
  3. Choose Cards for a compact overview or Terminal table to compare fields across the filtered results. Open a project's text link to read its details and sources.

If nothing matches, clear the search and relax the filters. A missing result can reflect the limits of this release's coverage; it does not establish that a project does not exist.

Understand stages and evidence labels

Stages describe the development status recorded for a project, from an early proposal through land, planning, grid and construction milestones to an operating site. Read the glossary and methodology for definitions.

A planning submission is not an approval. A reported approval does not establish that construction has started, and a grid allocation is not evidence that a site is energised. Check which particular milestone the linked source supports.

Labels such as Stage not verified, Unconfirmed or Undisclosed indicate that the release does not provide a supported value for that field. They are not zeros or evidence of cancellation. Estimates, where shown, are labelled separately from reported figures.

Read dates and capacity figures in context

The footer shows the date of the published research snapshot. Individual source and ledger dates can be earlier. An entry being added to the tracker does not mean that a project was announced, built or opened on that date.

A capacity figure may describe a phase, campus or IT load. Do not combine different measures or treat a sum of known figures as complete market coverage. Open the source and read the project's evidence notes before using a figure.

Open sources and report an error

Project pages include links to their public sources. Signals link to the record or publication behind the item. A signal may still be under review, so it should not be treated as a confirmed project milestone on its own.

For a correction, email [email protected]. Include the DC Spotter page address, the field or statement at issue and a public source supporting the correction. You can also report an outdated or broken source link.
