Accessibility
Access to the research matters.
We want DC Spotter to be useful to people with different access needs. The site is a public beta, and some interactive features still need accessibility improvements.
Ways to navigate
- Use the skip link at the start of this page to move directly to its main content.
- Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between links and native form controls, and Enter to activate a focused link or button.
- Use your browser's zoom and text-size settings when reading project pages and articles.
- For help interpreting a project or finding a source, visit the Help Center.
Explore projects without using the map
The project explorer also presents projects as cards and in a Terminal table. Use the search field and filters to narrow the results, then open a project through its text link. This provides another route to the project records without selecting map markers.
Colour should not be the only way to interpret a project. Read the written stage labels and the details on the project page. The interactive map is not currently a complete screen reader alternative to the project list.
Known areas that need improvement
Interactive maps, dynamic navigation dropdowns and data tables need further work on keyboard operation, focus behaviour and assistive technology support. Dynamic result changes may not be announced clearly by screen readers. Wide tables may require horizontal scrolling, and some table sorting controls are not yet fully accessible by keyboard.
We have not completed a comprehensive independent accessibility audit. This page is a description of the current site and its limitations, not a statement of WCAG certification or full conformance.
Report an accessibility barrier
Email [email protected] with the page address and a short description of what you were trying to do. If useful, include your browser, device or assistive technology. Please share only the information needed to explain the issue.
If a feature prevents you from reading a project record or source, let us know which information you need. We can discuss an alternative way to provide the relevant public information.
